Green Belt Relay

Every year Dulwich Runners fields a number of mixed teams in the Green Belt Relay. The event is a not-for-profit annual running relay organised by The Stragglers running club, and all surplus funds from the race are donated to charity (most recently the Marie Curie charity).

The race is a 22-stage running relay around 220 miles of the Green Belt around the outside of London over a single weekend. The course mainly follow footpaths, towpaths or minor roads, close to or along the Green Belt Way - a long distance footpath. There is a variety of scenic landscapes ranging from rivers, meadows, fields, hills to market towns and villages. The event is also a fun experience with opportunities for food and drinks.

This multi-team event ran over the weekend of 18/19 May 2024. Teams are 11 people who all run one stage on both Saturday and Sunday. Although the race is a relay, each stage starts at a fixed time which allows each stage to be a competitive race in its own right. The length of each stage varies (average is around 10 miles) but we will always try to match runners with stages according to distance and difficulty, as this is an event for all standard of runners. We always enter a team so we need 11 people to fill it, plus some reserves to cover last minute injury/illness etc

If you would like to find out more about the event and start to pencil it in for your diary for May 2025 please speak to either Ange Norris or Gower Tan at one of the club nights or race days.
