Turkey Trot 2018
Preamble
After a successful Christmas party, 2 walkers and 14 runners staggered down to Dulwich Park for the annual Turkey Trot Handicap race. This is a 3 lap walk or run around the park circuit (5 km) with a few twists:
Participants need to predict their time
Participants need to hand in watches and phones and anything else that might tell them how fast they are walking or running
There is a prize for best fancy dress!
Results
Chris Vernon, walking, started off scratch and the rest followed at intervals determined by recent Parkrun times. The handicapping was a success with all finishing within 3 minutes of each other.
Clare Wyngard was first finisher in a time of 25:15, 42 seconds faster than her prediction. She was run close by partner in crime Mike Dodds who ended up finishing in 25:23, 41 seconds slower than his prediction. Stephanie Lundon was very close to winning the best prediction, finishing 14 seconds slower than her predicted 23:50.
Chris Vernon was the first walker in 48:48, 62 seconds faster than he expected.
Sue Vernon was the most accurate with the predictions, finishing in 38:09, just 13 seconds slower than her forecast time.
Milo the dog wasn’t at full power, and didn’t provide Belinda with the expected boost.
Best fancy dress went to Sue and Rich with their festive onesies.
